01101110

01101110 was designed during the artistic residency of Alexandros Kontogeorgakopoulos at Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory, in Ljubiana (Slovenia) from January to March 2019.

Alexandros Kontogeorgakopoulos is a transdisciplinary artist-researcher in the fields of Art-Science-Technology. The project was co-developed with the co-founder of oneContinuousLab, Odysseas Klissouras. 

01101110 is composed of a series of light/shadow paintings depict instances of the evolution of the Rule 110 one-dimensional cellular automaton (Rule 01101110 in binary) accompanied by a music layer based on the same process.

Each painting offers it’s one unique light and sonic space.

The paintings are created by digitally fabricated perforated panels and white light LED beams; the panels diffract the light and project it on blanc canvases hanged on the wall of the exhibition space.
