TEMPO REALE

Music production, teaching and research center

Founded in 1987 by Luciano Berio, Tempo Reale is today one of the main European reference points for research, production and training in the field of new musical technologies. Since its establishment, the center has been involved in the creation of the works of Luciano Berio, in the most prestigious concert contexts around the world. The development of quality and creativity criteria derived from these experiences has reverberated in the work carried out continuously both with established composers and artists and with young emerging musicians. The main themes of the research reflect an idea of versatility that has always characterized Tempo Reale’s choices and initiatives: the conception of musical events of great depth, the study of live sound processing, the experiences of interaction between sound and space, the synergy between creativity, scientific competence, performative and didactic rigor. The research activities in these areas are regularly accompanied by events, meetings and projects in the area that see the center collaborate with the main institutions in Tuscany, both in the fields of music, theater and dance, and in the promotion of a dense network of didactic experiences. In 2008 the Tempo Reale Festival was founded, a regular initiative of concerts, performances, events dedicated to research music.
